Troubleshooting Genie Garage Door Opener, Question Garage Door Opener does not run when wall pushbutton is depressed. 1 Check 120 volt power source by plugging a lamp into the receptacle being used for the garage door opener. If the lamp operates , voltage to the garage door opener is OK. If the lamp does not work check fuses or circuit breaker. 2 Apply power to the garage door openers unit. Disconnect wall pushbutton wire attached to terminal 2 on the terminal strip located on the back of the garage door opener power head. Connect a jumper wire momentarily across terminals 1 and 2. If the garage door opener starts, the wall pushbutton is defective or the wire to the door opener wall button is broken or shorted. Repair or replace the defective item. 3 Garage Door Opener motor may be overheated. Wait 5 to 10 minutes, then depress the garage door opener wall pushbutton.
